WHAT IS THE HILL STREET COUNTRY CLUB?

The Hill Street Country Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to shaping the growing arts and culture scene in Oceanside and the surrounding North Country region. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse atmosphere that reflects the socioeconomic landscape of our community. To complement the traditional gallery space, we organize pop-up art shops, cultural events and art workshops around our community. Local artists, business and residents all benefit from the interaction that The Hill Street Country Club facilitates.

Our Mission
Encouraging art beyond gallery walls in order to create a culture where artists and community can thrive together in North County San Diego.

Our Goals
    1. Create pop-up art events where The HSCC partners with local business.
    2. Provide a calender of cultural events for the enrichment of North and San Diego Proper.
    3. Create opportunities for local artists.
    4. Provide an art outlet for the community through workshops.
    5. Expand art beyond gallery walls.

Our Vision
The Hill Street Country Club seeks to create and inclusive, diverse art culture for the socioeconomic landscape of North County San Diego. We strive to provide an art outlet for our community.

Dinah Poellnitz

Dinah is one of the Co-founders of The HSCC, Curator, and Director of Development for the space. Dinah grew up between Vista & Oceanside, and was always inspired by the diverse activity that surged up & down Hill Street in the 70s - 90s. Graduating from University of CA Riverside in 2006, she earned a BA in Art History + Arts Administration. While her accomplishments as an arts professional & board member are extensive, she is also a committed and active member of many local political orgs, and is constantly working towards building a more sustainable & creative society.

“We can't build and sustain a thriving art community by ignoring our history. Art is a personal, communal and universal message to record our cultural experiences. Art is for everyone. "Country clubs" are generally members only. We wanted to cancel out the ideal that art only belongs to a small few. So, it just made sense. Our art exhibitions are the embodiment of love for our community.” -Dinah

Marge and Dinah met 9 years ago while volunteering at the Oceanside Museum of Art.
