The Hill Street Country Club (HSCC) and Oceanside Public Library are proud to present Mobile Art Workshop (MAW) an extension and expansion of HSCC’s Papercuts Zine Club, community art gallery and teaching artists program. MAW is funded in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency and the City of Oceanside Arts Commission. MAW will run parallel to the Library’s Adult Summer Reading Program (Dig Deeper, Oceanside) from June 1 through August 8 and will benefit Oceanside neighborhoods’ engagement in contemporary art practices, arts education and exhibition artists. A rotating roster of local and regional artists, Lissa Corona, Alofa Gould, Alejandro Arreguin Villegas, Rachel Fernandes and Alyssa Junious will explore contemporary, accessible and affordable art mediums. Every two weeks, MAW will provide participants with a unique project kit with materials curated by the teaching artist to explore mediums such as cyanotype photography and Zine creation. Online tutorials by the teaching artists will take participants through a step by step process. These workshops seek to demystify the art making process, give confidence to prospective artists, and encourage arts appreciation as a lifelong, necessary practice.

The Social is a once a month weekend gathering for adolescents and teenagers, created by Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA), Ronnie Brooks in collaboration with Hill Street Country Club. We created this space to help support the many pre-teens, teens and young adults in creating a community that they can grow, establishing peer relationships through effective communication and building social skills.

Years of experience shows that these age groups thrive in an environment that is encouraging and supported by like-minded peers. Our objective is to help guide teens and young adults to find their way in social settings using mindfulness practices and positive emotional activities (e.g., outings, participation in the arts, sports, recreation and community services to name a few).
