Artist Statement: Motherhood is a journey marked by profound joy, wonder, and love, but also by vulnerability, pain, and fragility. In this series, I employ botanical analogies to explore these themes, reflecting on isolation, fear, and resilience as experienced in contemporary motherhood. This work is deeply inspired by conversations with the mothers in my life. I aim to shed light on the isolating nature of modern American motherhood and foster a dialogue about community and inter-dependence through my art.
Join us at Hill Street Country Club to experience how Chitra Gopalakrishnan’s personal lens brings to life the nuanced realities of motherhood.
